An orphaned cheetah becomes the best friend of a young boy and his family living in rural South Africa. When the boy’s father dies, mother and son are forced to leave the farm and move to the city. The boy decides to run away to the mountains with his pet cheetah.

Duma was based on a book for children called How It Was With Dooms: A True Story From Africa, by Carol Cawthra Hopcraft and Xan Hopcraft, which told the story of Xan's real-life friendship with a cheetah.

South Africa; Rated PG for mild adventure peril; Directed by Carroll Ballard (2005); 93 Minutes
