Tribute Gifts: A Meaningful Way to Honor or Remember a Family Member or Friend

Tribute gifts to An Appalachian Summer Festival, including memorial gifts and honoraria, are meaningful ways to recognize someone on a special occasion, express sympathy to friends or loved ones who have experienced the loss of a family member, or to memorialize someone for whom the arts were highly valued. The legacy of the individual will continue to live on through the new opportunities made possible by these special gifts. We invite you to consider this unique way of paying tribute to someone in your life who values the arts, while providing important support for An Appalachian Summer Festival.

A recent gift to the festival illustrates the ways in which festival patrons can utilize the option of tribute gifts. In January of 2007, Barbara and Larry Freiman made a gift in honor of Mrs. Muriel Rosen and in memory of her husband, Arnold. The Rosens provided the vision and generous support that led to the founding of An Appalachian Summer Festival in 1983. Her continuing leadership, generosity, and devotion to the festival has been critical to its growth and success over the years. Tribute gifts may be designated in connection with any major life event. Birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, and the birth of a child or grandc

Other tribute gifts made during this period were by the Freimans in honor of Patty and Al Wheeler's birthdays, and by Bob and Minnie Snead, as a tribute in honor of Connie Adams and Jana Duke, co-coordinators of the "Friends of An Appalachian Summer Festival," the festival's dedicated volunteer corps.

Please utilize the form available to the right in making your gift. The form includes space for details concerning your tribute gift. If it's a gift honoring someone, that person will be notified by the festival that a gift has been made by you, in their honor.

Family members of anyone memorialized through your gift will be notified in a similar manner. For additional information on tribute gifts, please all 828.262.6084, ext. 100.

Become a Festival Supporter

An Appalachian Summer Festival has always been largely self-sustaining, and has benefited from strong private support through individual and corporate giving, which has enabled it to not only survive - but to thrive and grow. Still, the festival faces the challenge of rising artist fees, coupled with major reductions in foundation and endowment funding. Maintaining quality arts programming, quite simply, is expensive. Because the festival is committed to preserving affordable ticket prices, and making the festival accessible for all, ticket revenues cover only about 30% of the festival's needed income, and simply can't keep pace with the rising costs of presenting quality arts programs. Private support - from you and other loyal patrons who share a passionate devotion to the arts - is more critical than ever before.

Your support will make it possible to build the audiences of tomorrow; showcase the artists of tomorrow; raise national visibility and public awareness of the festival; continue to present the "best of the best;" and carve out a unique identity.
